Every month, we share a chef’s story on our Hot List. This is all about celebrating chefs and what they do. It is also a good way to discover all the different types of talent our industry has to offer. From executive chefs to private chefs and everything in between, the food industry has got to be one of the most exciting and varied sectors to work in and we are proud to work with some of the best out there!
Next chef to share their story on our Hot List is the talented Simon Edwards. If you follow us on social media, then you probably recognise Simon and his plating style, as he was crowned our Wall of Fame 2018 champion at the beginning of the year. His food image reached almost 800 likes on our Instagram, making him an instant winner! Our followers from all over the world loved Simon’s style, check out his winning food pic below.
We were instantly intrigued by this social media sensation and wanted to know more about Simon. We were impressed to discover that his love for cooking runs pretty deep. He started cooking at the young age of 14, working in local pubs and made his way up, working with world class chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and Gary Rhodes. He also has experience in Contract Catering, working for companies such as Restaurant Associates, Gather and Gather, Lexington Catering and Compass.
In 2018 and at the age of 28, Simon decided to go into private dining and focused all of his passion into creating his own company; The One Dining. The One Dining is all about Simon sharing his food creations with people at home. He incorporates his past skills of menu planning and events catering to really give clients a totally unique experience. The food he produces is always freshly prepared and cooked to the highest standard, using the best local ingredients. He also creates menus bespoke for each client, whether it is a small dinner party or luxurious canape reception, Simon certainly has the skills and experience to make it memorable!
When we recently caught up with Simon, we were delighted to find out he is currently aboard a privately owned yacht, where he is preparing fresh food three times a day for his clients and putting together the most creative canapes for luxury parties. Life at sea certainly seems to be agreeing with Simon, but we are sure his career as a private chef will lead him to many other wonderful and creative paths!
