Happy St George’s Day! To celebrate, we wanted to share with you our love of British brands…
As we have mentioned in earlier blog posts, magazines and on our social media, we literally search the world to find you the best brands, however, what you may not know is that we pay particularly close attention to our Motherland – the UK. We are intensely proud of our Great British heritage and craftsmanship, especially in the art of ceramics and we know there is true talent, right here, in the UK. We have already found some pretty amazing brands that are not only produced in Britain, but are finished in Britain too.
Bone China is one of the types of ceramics that is associated with England. This is probably because it was first made in England back in the 1700’s and even to this day it can be seen in some of the best restaurants and hotels across the country, especially for Afternoon Tea service.
Last year we announced our collaboration with Walpole, based in Burslem, who are one of the last remaining, totally British Bone China manufacturers. We represent their Royal Worcester and Spode brands.
Since then, we released their Saturn Collection in our Autumn/Winter Portfolio. This contemporary design with a clearly defined rim proved a big hit with hotels around the UK. Perfect choice for adding movement to your dish. Recently, we launched their Tranquillity Collection. We love this beautiful delicate gold bird and branches pattern, it is so exquisite and an instant classic. Tranquillity is also designed to be layered…do you like our version below?
We can offer you the capability of creating your own design on totally English Bone China, get in touch or book an appointment at our London showroom for more information. There will be more to come from Royal Worcester, so keep checking back!
We cannot do a Best of British blog and not include our friends Marv and Diane. Believe it or not, we met these two talented ceramists at a food event in the North East a few years back. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out they had a pottery studio in Newcastle, just a short drive away from our Head Office! It was like it was meant to be! Marv founded Muddy Fingers Pottery in 2003 and due to expansion, Diane joined in 2011.
Since we first met at that food event, our relationship with Muddy Fingers has grown and you can find their collections in places like Burberry and Jason Atherton restaurants.
We love their Northern Sea inspired range, but more recently we have launched their Upside Down collection, which allows chefs to get really creative with their dishes. Marv and Diane are always surprising us with their creativeness and we are so pleased we bumped into them! You can see a teaser of this collection in our Portfolio 4 and London showroom.
This is just a taste of our British brands…we are always on lookout for new collaborations! Keep checking back for updates…
