Concept To Table
Corinthia Yacht Club – Doha

The Brief
We were initially introduced to the Corinthia Yacht Club project by another member of our Group network of companies. Completely rebuilt on a site next to the stunning and exclusive Porto Arabia shopping area, looking out over the glittering Arabian Gulf, Corinthia Yacht Club aimed to excite and surprise. There was a clear design ethos, combining modernity with a sense of place and confident energy.

Initial Stages
The first discussion between Bijendra Yadav of Corinthia, and Valda Goodfellow of G & G (Goodfellows), took place over Teams, as many international meetings do now. However, this was no barrier to quickly establishing an in-depth understanding of the challenges the project involved. Bijendra’s first requirement was to create a relationship with a supplier he could fully trust to complete the project and deliver in a relatively short timescale, dictated by the FIFA World Cup being held in Qatar in 2022. Secondly, he wanted innovation from someone who understood the international luxury market and who could help bring luxury dining concepts to life with tableware. The project involved several key areas used as dining destinations or occasions, including the Lobby and Private Dining Room.
Our Approach
Valda started by composing a Mood Board based on the discussions and design deck that Bijendra had shared. The Mood Board drew inspiration from the interior designs and an understanding of the style of service Bijendra wanted to achieve. Products were selected from G & G’s extensive international supply base, chosen to complement each other, offering a cohesive concept that also provided the right level of innovation.
Adding an initial layer of complexity, a London Restaurateur was opening their own concept restaurant (Kai) as part of the project. Paul Goodfellow hosted the restaurateur in the G & G London Showroom to select the products, being conscious of what Bijendra was selecting for other areas.

Final stages
As with any project, ideas and selections had to be adjusted in line with lead times, especially for hand-made products. This is where effective communication is vitally important. There were also last-minute additions and new requirements to satisfy. G & G even supplied the Kitchen Equipment, ensuring Bijendra received the exact products he had chosen.
For G & G, achieving an order is not the most important part of the project; making sure the client’s expectations are exceeded is. This proves more difficult when distance is involved, but with today’s technology, communication is easier than ever before.
The project was indeed delivered successfully. Yes, there were a few hiccups along the way, but by working together and being honest about expectations and possibilities, both parties can be proud of a job well done.
What The Client Said
“The Corinthia Yacht Club project was an ambitious endeavour, and G&G truly rose to the occasion. They not only delivered on time, meeting the strict deadline of the FIFA World Cup, but they also brought our vision to life with exceptional tableware concepts.
This project was a great success due to the team’s dedication, good communication, and adaptability in adjusting to our evolving needs. G&G went beyond delivering an order; they exceeded our expectations, and we’re proud of the outstanding job they’ve done.”.
