You may know us for our sexy plates, but did you know, we also have an ever-growing collection of sexy knives?
We know how important a good knife is to any chef. It is a tool you use every day, so the blade needs to be able to withstand the demands of the kitchen and the handle has to be comfortable. It also helps if it looks the part too!
These are the three things we think of when looking for knife brands; quality, comfort and sexiness.
Because knives are so important in every-day chef life, this is why we are working hard on our collection and will continue to add to these throughout the year.
The first knife brand we will be launching as part of our sexy knives campaign is Morakniv.
When we first met this knife brand, we fell in love with their story. They have such a rich history and have been producing knives in Mora, Sweden since the 17th century. This means that each knife made in Mora leaves their factory with the traditions and knowledge that Morakniv have gained over the years.
Today, the Morakniv knife has become one of the most famous symbols of Sweden. So much so, that Morakniv have been granted Royal Purveyor by His Majesty the King of Sweden, which is obviously a huge honour and shows just how good these knives are!
Now let’s get to the product. Morakniv are known for their outdoor knives, which we briefly introduced just before Christmas. We plan on launching these a little later in the year, but for now, we are launching their Classic 1891 Chef Knives.
We will start with the quality of the blade. Morakniv knives are designed to stay extremely sharp. The steel of the blade is heat treated in a top secret process, which ensures that every knife has a blend of qualities (sharpness, strength and flexibility). The handle is available in red or black stained Swedish birch and has an elaborate coil form. This provides a stable grip.
Initially the dark red colour was produced to make the birch mimic the more upmarket mahogany. However, today the red handle has developed its own identity, which is symbolic of Sweden. The black handle shows a more modern Scandinavian design profile. See which on you prefer, browse and shop here.
We will be adding more brands to our Sexy Knives collection, so keep checking back for updates!
