Today is #BuyBritishDay, which is all about celebrating everything British!
We think this is great, as it gives us a good excuse to boast about the amazing British potters we work with and support.
We believe that we have so much talent, right here, in the UK (some are even right on our door step) sometimes you need to look away from the mainstream and look around you.
This is the perfect opportunity to tell you the story about how we met our hand-crafted stoneware producers. It was at a Farmer’s Market, of all places, which isn’t our usual method of sourcing new products, but we are pleased we did! They have now become good friends of ours and have also helped us develop an increasing demand for locally made, hand-crafted ceramics.
The friends we are talking about are Marv and Diane. Their studio is a creative wonderland of possibilities. The first time we visited their facility we were blown away. We are still intrigued by the mystery of the kiln and the process of producing products, which we think is more to do with magic then science!
It is so rewarding working with smaller companies. With the right support they can have a huge impact on the tableware market. They really do come up with the most beautiful and inspiring designs and glazes.
We also work with British Pewter makers who have helped us create our very own range of exclusive designs and our English Steak Knife producer who has managed to create stunningly beautiful meat knives to rival both the French and Italians.
We will continued to seek out more of these producers and bring them to you. In the meantime you can browse our ‘Crafty Brits’ page here.
