Firstly, if you’ve not met me in the G&G showroom, hello! I’m one of the London team and you’re likely to find me taking appointments with customers, re-arranging the showroom or even creating the odd flower arrangement. I thought it was time to start sharing how my skills and design interests are developing in the Goodfellows team and to show you what trends are emerging for the hospitality and catering scene. I’ll also use this as a platform to share my general interest in interiors, trends and all things design related.
Whether I’m working on a new restaurant refurb or contract catering buffet set up, having an eye for design will always help with the overall look and feel. You may have already noticed that interior trends work a bit like the fashion industry; the top names or new ‘in’ place will open up with a space that’s been inspired by a new theme, texture or colour palette (this has often been influenced by the fashion world). This then trickles down into any emerging restaurant/hotel/catering site. It’s not as fast moving as fashion or domestic interiors, but what we see in retail windows and interior magazines will ultimately have some influence on us.
Naturally, I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration that we can relay to our suppliers. We work closely with them to introduce new pieces available to you. You may not be having a complete refurb or changing your entire cake display, but it’s important for us that when you do want to bring in a few new pieces, they are up to date and inspiring.
