Goodfellows launch ‘Plated’ an exciting new creative plating competition for rising talent.
We are delighted to announce the launch of an amazing new competition aimed at the UK’s young up and coming chefs, in association with TrueFoods and Costa Nova.
The idea for the competition was born out of a passion for supporting the future talent of the hospitality industry and giving young chefs a platform to get noticed. With a whopping prize fund worth £10,000 this is a game-changing opportunity for you to showcase your skills and shine on the national stage.

HOW TO ENTER
Send us your best ‘plated’ food photos or videos to [email protected] by 10th March 2025. Six finalists will be whittled down by our judges to battle it out in an epic cook-off on 28th April 2025 at the TRUEfoods Development Kitchen, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, and streamed live on social media. One of YOU will be crowned the winner!

Plated Competition Terms & Conditions
ELIGABLITY:
• Entrants must be employed as a professional chef in the UK and aged 30 years and under by the 1st January 2025
• Multiple entrants from the same Restaurant, Hotel or Caterer are allowed
• Your submissions must be your own work, as you will need to reproduce your dish (exactly as submitted), should you get to the final
• You must have permission from your employer to enter the competition, as the organisers and sponsors will need to publicise your details and that of your employer
• You must be available to attend the final, should you be selected
• You must provide authorisation for the organisers and sponsors to use any images, references & details related to your submission, including those of your employer
SUBMISSIONS:
• Entrants can supply up to 3 submissions for consideration, meaning you can submit 3 times, with 3 different ‘dishes’. This does not mean you need to submit a Starter, Main Course & Dessert. These can be any 3 dishes of your choice
• It is your responsibility to ensure that if you are replicating another chef’s signature dish, you cannot be accused of plagiarising anyone else’s work. You will be liable for any such claim and the organisers and sponsors cannot be held liable for any such claim
• Do not overlay your images with your name or the name of the restaurant as the images will be judged ‘blind’
• Entrants can supply up to 3 images per submission, meaning, each ‘dish’ submission can be accompanied by 3 different images of the same dish
• Images need to be of a quality to allow reproducing digitally (on Social Media)
• Submissions must be accompanied by your name, age and current place of employment and you must have permission to use your employer’s name and place of work details as these will be publicised
• You must also provide an image of yourself which you authorise the organisers and sponsors to include in any publicity in perpetuity
• A brief description of the dish, recipe and what this dish says about you as a chef.
• The organisers and sponsors will not be liable for any costs associated with your submissions, including any legal costs or tax costs associated with the prizes
• Submissions can be on any tableware, not necessarily G & G’s tableware but must not be on any item displaying a log or name which would identify the chef or place of work
• In entering the competition, you must ensure you give consent to the organisers and sponsors to hold your personal information
• Entrants enter and take part in the competition at their own risk. The organisers and sponsors disclaim all and any liability to those competitors who take part in the competition, and to the winner in respect of their participation in the prizes, save as those specifically stated
ONLINE ENTRIES:
• All entries must be emailed to [email protected] by the 10th March 2025
• No entries will be accepted via post
• The organisers and sponsors reserve the right to use and publish any submitted entry material at any stage of the competition
• The judges’ decision at each stage of the competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into
• It is your responsibility to ensure the quality of images submitted are of good quality and will allow the judges to judge your submissions fully
• You must have or obtain permission to use the images submitted (including if taken by a photographer) for publicity reasons and ensure that this permission extends to the organisers and sponsors for not only for the duration of the competition but in perpetuity
• Should any claim be made that an entrant’s imagery has not been authorised, any associated costs will be borne by the entrant and not by the organisers and sponsors
• Any submissions must not be used in any other competition within the next 12 months
THE JUDGING:
• Six entries will be shortlisted by the judging panel for the final
• Decisions taken by the Judges are final, at any stage in the competition
• Judging for the 1st stage will be made on images only, in order to preserve anonymity of the entrants; so please make sure you do not overlay your images with your name or details of where you work
• The date for announcement of the finalists is intended to be Monday 31st March but the organisers and sponsors reserve the right to amend this date to later than the intended date
• The final will be judged both on the look of the dishes and TASTE, as you will need to reproduce the dish at the final, and the judges will be tasting the food
• If you reach the final, G & G will not be liable for any costs related to you attending the final, including traveling, accommodation and product costs
• The final will take place at True Foods’ Development Kitchen, at 9 Hallikeld Close, Barker Business Park, Melmerby, North Yorkshire, HG4 5GZ
• The date of the final will take place on Monday 28th April, and you must confirm that you are available on that day (including any traveling time)
• Details of the itinerary for the final will be provided to you, should you reach the final, but you should expect that the final will take a whole day
• If you do not attend the final for any reason as a finalist, you will be disqualified, and the organisers and sponsors will not be liable for any claim relating to your inability to attend
• Dishes cooked at the final must be on G & G tableware, which will be provided for this purpose. If you are a finalist, you will be provided with a selection of tableware from which to choose ahead of the final. Further details will be provided to the finalists when they are chosen
• Unsuccessful entrant may or may not be informed personally by the organisers and sponsors, who choose to publish that the Judging has been completed, and the successful entrants have been notified
THE PRIZES:
• The prizes as set out are correct at time of publication. Any changes will be updated via Social Media and on our website
• The organisers and sponsors reserve the right to amend the prizes other than the cash amount
• The winner must have a valid passport for travel to Portugal (or another country if the prize is changed). No cash equivalent will be given for inability to travel
• The date of travel will be advised after liaison with the sponsor
• If a suitable date cannot be agreed the organisers and sponsors cannot be held liable and no cash equivalent will be offered
• Costs other than those stated, in association with travel and subsistence, will not be met by the organisers and sponsors
• Personal Insurance for travel in association with the prizes, must be arranged by the winner. Insurance associated with flight availability will be met by the organisers and sponsors
• The prizes will be presented to the winner only and the organisers and sponsors will not be liable for any claim made by any other party
• The organisers and sponsors will not be liable for any payment of tax associated with the prizes
